It is with great sadness that I announce the sudden passing of Lisa Ben-Dov on December 7th , 2025.

Since 1985, just after Zohar and Lisa moved to Kinross Farm in Marshall, Lisa has been a leader in the social, philanthropic and animal welfare community within the region, as well as nationally and internationally.

Lisa was the main advocate and a director of the Middleburg Humane Foundation and, with Zohar, its leading financial supporter and fundraiser. With her compelling support and grace, it was impossible to say “no” to a Lisa entreaty for support for so many at risk domestic animals. She was a loyal and demanding friend. Quick to come to your assistance in times of need or to give you good advice if you were struggling for direction. Her contributions to Middleburg Humane Foundation allowed for a new, expanded shelter campus, expanded services and the saving of thousands of animals.

We are all diminished by Lisa’s passing. Her absence will leave a big hole in our lives and our community and an amazing legacy for saving animals that will continue in her honor.
